Faces of Iowa State

Iowa State University has a long tradition of commissioning portraits, begining in the 1930"s. Continuing this tradition, Iowa artist Rose Frantzen was commissioned to paint portraits of impactful Iowa State University alumni, faculty, staff, and friends resulting in the 39 portraits on display today. Faces of Iowa State celebrates the tradition and impact of portraiture at Iowa State University and shows the development of Iowa State as a story of democracy where the vision, dreams, and actions of individual people play a vital role in how our collective identity is shaped.

Faces of Iowa State is organized by University Museums with major support from: College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Human Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, ISU Extension and Outreach, University Library, Office of the Vice President for Research, and University Museums, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.
