Mary Musser-Gilmore Collection
Mary Musser-Gilmore, niece of Laura Musser-McColm, was one of two heirs who donated the historic house to the City of Muscatine. Mrs. Gilmore was an avid art collector, acquiring works by Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, Marc Chagall, Camille Pissarro, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and other internationally recognized artists.
Mary Musser-Gilmore, niece of Laura Musser-McColm, was one of two heirs who donated the historic house to the City of Muscatine.
In 1992, twenty-seven works of art from the estate of Mary Musser-Gilmore were presented to the Muscatine Art Center. In 2010, an additional eleven were gifted via the estate of Sarah King-Wilmer, daughter of Mary Musser-Gilmore. The collection was given in memory of Mrs. Gilmore’s mother and father, Sarah Walker Musser and Richard Drew Musser.
