Allan Houser was born to the Apache tribe and became a renowned painter and sculptor,
representing themes of the natural world and Native American life. The Muscatine Art Center is proud to host the sculpture, Prayer of Peace, that was
a gift of Stanley and Helen Howe, dedicated to C. Maxwell Stanley, “Tireless Advocate
of World Peace and Understanding." The project for the class is a parent/child sculpture, depicted in the featured image, a repeated motif in Houser’s work.
In the “Artist Workshops for Kids”, formerly known as “Kids Saturday Workshops”, kids can join Miss Julie to create their own masterpieces! In these free workshops, kids can learn about the lives and works of famous artists from around the world and recreate a project in their style. Throughout the year there will be additional classes where we will learn about other cultures, celebrate different holidays, and more!
